The Colonic Procedure Explained
What the colonic procedure involves
Almost without fail, every client turns up for their first colonic irrigation treatment feeling nervous.
I'm going to run through a typical first treatment which should give you a clear idea of what to expect and I hope answer many of your questions.
Remember that I have these treatments myself and obviously also had a first treatment too, so not only are you in the hands of a competent professional but I know how you are feeling and probably know a lot of what will be worrying you.
When you arrive at the clinic you will be asked to fill in a general health questionnaire which includes some specific questions relating to your nutrition and your bowel habits. I need to know such things as if you have had any recent surgery, whether you have any serious illness, do you have haemmorhoids etc.
After you have filled in this questionnaire, I will take you to the treatment room where we can discuss the questionnaire, explain the colonic procedure and your expectations / concerns regarding the treatment.
I will record your weight and blood pressure.
You will then be asked to go through to the adjoining bathroom, remove all clothing from your waist down - it is important to leave your abdominal area accessible for massage during the treatment so loose upper clothing is helpful, (you can also leave socks on if you wish).
You will be given a gown to keep you covered and your modesty will be preserved at all times.
It is important to try and pass urine before the treatment starts.
You then return to the treatment room and will be asked to lie on the treatment couch where your bottom half will be covered with a towel and the gown rolled up to allow examination of the abdominal area.
I will firstly do an examination of your abdomen, to determine areas of tenderness, fullness,or any abnormality, noting scarring etc. explaining to you at all times what I am doing.
You will then be asked to turn onto your left hand side with your knees drawn up, and I will perform a gentle rectal examination after which I will carefully and slowly insert the sterile scope used during the colonic procedure.
After inserting the scope, I will attach the two tubes, one which introduces the triple filtered warm water into the colon and the other which takes away the waste. The warm water is then introduced.
The first five minutes of the procedure is carried out with you still in this position on your left hand side with knees drawn up. This is to clear the first 4 to 6 inches of the rectum.
You are then assisted to turn over onto your back with knees raised and it is in this position that the rest of the treatment will be carried out.
Several fills and release of water will be used, as well as massage techniques, to dislodge toxic waste matter on the walls of the colon.
One colon hydrotherapy session may be equivalent to having 20 or 30 regular bowel movements or enemas.
At no point should you have experienced anything other than "unusual" sensations and the need to go to the toilet.
As the system is "closed", you can be assured there is no smell or mess.
